Position : Supine, arms free at side, The head is fixed in a stereotactic frame for lead placement and turned away from the left neck for the vagal implant.
Time : 4+ hours (very long)
Blood Loss : Moderate (50 - 200 ml)
Post-op Pain : Minimal (0-3)
Maintenance Paralytic : None during awake mapping or vagal lead testing; a relaxant is reasonable for the generator pocket and closure.
Blocks : Scalp
Considerations : Aspiration risk / Full stomach, Mayfield Pins
