Position : Semi-Fowlers, Lateral, one arm extended
Time : 30-60 min (short)
Blood Loss : Very Low (5-10 ml)
Post-op Pain : High (7-10)
Maintenance Paralytic : None for a tunneled catheter or bedside talc under sedation; a relaxant is standard if talc goes in at thoracoscopy.
Considerations : Off-site, One-Lung Ventilation / Lung Isolation
