Anesthesia Implications

Position : Supine, Prone, arms tucked, Head is locked in the stereotactic frame or in pins and cannot be turned or repositioned once registration is done.
Time : 1-2 hours (average)
Blood Loss : Very Low (5-10 ml)
Post-op Pain : Minimal (0-3)
Maintenance Paralytic : None under sedation; under general, only enough to intubate - the biopsy itself needs no relaxation.
Blocks : Scalp
Considerations : Mayfield Pins, Off-site, PONV, Anticoagulation / Antiplatelet Therapy
