Anesthesia Implications

Position: Lithotomy, arms at side on armboards
Time: 5-30 min (very short)
Blood Loss: Very Low (5-10 ml)
Post-op Pain: Minimal (1-3)
Maintenance Paralytic: No

Anesthetic Approaches

  • MAC, Propofol Drip
  • GLMA
The Anesthesia

Good anesthetic depth – The biopsies are very stimulating. Make sure to have the patient deep enough when the surgeon begins taking them.

Position – Occasionally these procedures will be done in a lateral position.
